Treated Graphite Construction
The two principal failure modes of degassing shafts are oxidation and wear (other than accidental mechanical damage). Oxidation resistance is increased with the Metaullics proprietary chemical impregnation process. The Starburst rotor and shaft are both constructed from premium treated graphite (ZX grade) having nearly twice the oxidation resistance compared to standard treatment graphite (SST grade).
